How to Run a Session

Before you begin, ensure that your VetGuardian device is charged or plugged into a wall outlet and that you have already completed the initial installation as described in the Quick Start guide. This includes setting up a VetGuardian Account and adding your device to your clinic.

The Steps:

1

Turn on the device by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.

  • After 1 minute, an LED light should blink light blue (indicating the device is loading) and then turn green (indicating the device has successfully connected to the network).

2

Prepare the mounting arm:

  • With the device turned over, locate the clip on the back.

  • Push down on the top of the clip where the grooves are and slide it downward to remove it.

  • Grab the end of the mounting arm, not attached to the clamp, and attach the clip by screwing it onto this end.

  • Attach the clamp of the mounting arm to an IV pole or directly to a cage and tighten securely.

3

Adjust the device's position:

  • Turn the center knob counterclockwise to slightly loosen the mounting arm.

  • Tilt the clip downward at a 45-degree angle, ensuring that the patient’s full body will be visible to the VetGuardian camera.

  • Once satisfied with the position, turn the center knob clockwise to tighten the mount, then slide the device back into the clip.

4

Navigate to the VetGuardian cloud app at cloudapp.vetguardian.com and log in.

  • Select your device and enable the video on the 'Session Setup' screen.

  • Adjust the mounting arm if needed to ensure the patient’s full body and head are visible to the camera.

  • Add a new patient to the system on the 'Session Setup' screen or search for an existing patient by their name or patient ID.

5

Take a manual reading of the patient’s temperature.

  • Enter this initial manual temperature reading in the temperature box.

  • Click "Start" when the patient’s eye is visible to the camera.

6

Wait for about 30 seconds for the device to start picking up vital signs and calibrate the temperature.

  • Note that if a session is started without an initial manual temperature entry, the VetGuardian uses a “Midpoint Temp” as the starting calibration point. The Midpoint Temp is halfway between the Low Warning and High Warning values. This option is suitable for patients determined to be at a normal temperature at the start of monitoring.

7

Monitor the BioSignal value to ensure it stays above the threshold of 21%. If it falls below this value, the device must be repositioned.

8

Remember to calibrate the temperature at the beginning of each session. To enable push notifications, click the bell icon toggle on the ‘Session Screen.’

Congratulations! Your VetGuardian device is now ready for use! Please continue to watch the VetGuardian tutorial video series to learn more about the rest of the software’s features.
