Steps

Quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet.

1

Determine if you will be using the Web App or Desktop App

The VetGuardian Application can be accessed two ways: via web application at app.vetguardian.com or by downloading the desktop application. If you’re using the web application, skip to the next step, Hardware Setup. Alternatively, you can download the desktop application using the following steps.
2

Download the VetGuardian Desktop App

On the computer you plan on using with VetGuardian, visit VetGuardian.com. Click on “Support” in the top menu, then select Downloads.

Make sure you’re logged into the website or create an account by following the steps on screen. Click on “VetGuardian Application” to download the latest version. The file will download and appear in the bottom left of your screen.
3

Install the Desktop App

Click to open the application. A window that says "Windows Protected your PC” will pop up. Click on "more info", then click on "Run anyway". The VetGuardian Application will now install and open.

Once you see the VetGuardian App welcome screen, it means you've successfully downloaded the VetGuardian App to your device. The app is now ready to pair a VetGuardian device.

Hardware Setup

In this tutorial, we'll go over how to connect the device to power and how to assemble the mounting arm to position the device.

Steps

Quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet.

1

Connect the Device to Power

Unbox the device. Attach one end of the USB-C power cord into the bottom of the device and the other into an outlet. A red LED light should turn on.

After about 50 seconds, a solid blue LED will appear at the bottom corner of the device. This means that the device is now in "setup mode".
2

Assemble the Mounting Arm

First, remove the small adapter piece as we won't be needing it. Both ends should now look identical. Next, screw the clamp onto one end of the mounting arm. Screw the other end of the mounting arm directly into the back of the VetGuardian device.
3

Tighten the Mounting Arm

Turn the red knob counterclockwise to loosen the entire mount. Move the arms into the desired position, then turn the red knob clockwise to tighten the mount. Now you can use the clamp to attach the VetGuardian to IV poles or directly to cages. Note that the VetGuardian will need to directly face the patient from 4-5 feet away.

Network Setup

In this tutorial, we'll go over how to connect your VetGuardian device to the application through your Wi-Fi network.

Steps

Quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet.

1

Connect to the VetGuardian Setup Wi-Fi on a Separate Smart Device

Grab a smart device other than the one you are using with VetGuardian. Open Settings, then click Wi-Fi. Select 'VetGuardian Setup' as the wireless network. On that same smart device, navigate to http://vetguardian.setup.
2

Configure Wi-Fi Settings for Your VetGuardian

A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Select your clinic's Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Then click “Next”.

Two text boxes will appear asking for IP addresses. If you're using the desktop application, enter the IP address from the top left corner of the VetGuardian application. If you're using the web application, input ‘app.vetguardian.com’ as the default server IP address.

Click next. Then click “apply changes and restart”.
3

Done!

Congratulations, setup is now complete. Wait a couple minutes for the device to restart and boot up. The device will now appear on the application, and is ready for use.

Using the Device

In this tutorial, we'll go over the basics of running your first session with VetGuardian. We'll take a tour of the app, learn how to add a patient, configure alarm settings, and more.

Steps

Quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet.

1

Selecting Your Device

Open the VetGuardian Application. Click on the “down arrow” in the top left of the blue menu bar. This is your starting point, where you can view all connected devices. Click on the device you’d like to run a session with.
2

Adding a Patient

From here, click on the blue “New” button to enter information. Or, if it's a recurring patient, you can simply enter the patient ID into the search box. If the app finds previous patients, they will show up as you type in this box.

In order to run a session on a new patient, we must first enter all their necessary information into the system. It's important to note that VetGuardian will not start a session unless every box is filled out, but once the patient is in the system, we can easily set them up for future sessions by simply searching their patient ID, or by selecting Rerun.
3

Configuring Warning and Alarm Ranges

When you select different species, you’ll see different warning and alarm ranges. The low and high “warning” ranges will notify you when the patient’s vitals are outside the normal range. The low and high alarm ranges will notify you when the patient’s vitals are outside both the normal range “and” warning range.
4

Starting a Session

Clicking on the “Enable video” button on the right side of your screen will turn on the camera. This can be helpful for ensuring the patient is inside the frame so that vitals can be accurately detected.

Clicking on the green “Start” button will begin the session. Once starting a session, wait a few moments for the device to start picking up vital signs. If you'd like to input manual readings such as a manual temperature or respiratory rate, you can add those into the system in the bottom left of the screen.
